WHAT WE DO
Performance Laboratories was established in Ruwa in 2011 offering commercial assay and analytical testing services. Initially, the laboratory focused on geochemical analysis for the mining industry but has since started branching out into Metallurgical testing, Agriculture, Water and Food Safety. Over the years, the laboratory has maintained an ISO 17025 accreditation through bodies such as SANAS and more recently, SADCAS.

Kiran Desai
Managing Director
Kiran is a passionate Industrial engineer and project manager. Starting his career with a short stint at Murray & Roberts’ Genrec Engineering in the contracts management department, he then went into Industrial Engineering Consultancy specializing in process optimization, capacity planning, and site development planning. Most recently, Kiran has taken on the position of Managing Director at Performance Laboratories, taking his years of experience in various industries and applying them to the successful growth of the lab.

Albert Mandikisi
Finance Manager
Albert is a hands-on financial administrator with over 10 years experience in spearheading and supporting multi-faceted financial operations and developing and monitoring internal controls. He worked as the General Manager for Farchis Automotive. He also was involved in Non-Governmental Organisations financial management for USAID funds through Uzumba Orphan Care and the European Commission through Zvikomborero Farms. Albert also worked in the health sector as the Finance and Administration Officer for Integrated Health Centre. Albert received training as an Accountant from MGI Global Chartered Accountants formerly (Mazhandu and Company Chartered Accountants ZW)

Nyasha Tauro
Lab Operations Manager
Nyasha is a seasoned Chemist with over 5 years experience driving operational excellence and efficiency in analytical testing. Her expertise spans over geochemical, water and agricultural testing as well as wastewater and raw water treatment. She commenced her career in an agricultural and environmental testing lab at Africa University and later moved on to work with the South African based Icelake Inc on various wastewater treatment projects with the municipalities of Harare and Masvingo. Nyasha joined Performance Labs in 2020 and has worked her way up to the role of Operations Manager. With a strong foundation in quality assurance and safety, she leads her team towards excellency in consistently meeting the highest standards of quality, safety and customer satisfaction.

Tawanda Chawirah
Business Development Manager
Tawanda is an accomplished business and results-oriented leader with over a decade of extensive marketing and business development experience. Starting his career as an IT intern at Amadeus in Sophia Antipolis, France. He then embarked on a career development journey that saw him become a Territory Manager for Mining and B2B at TotalEnergies Zimbabwe. He also worked as the SFS Manager in charge of non-fuel activities at stations nationwide for TotalEnergies Zimbabwe. Tawanda is a Certified Marketing Consultant.

Decomposition is done through digestion and fusion techniques with AAS/ICP-OES finishes to ensure high-quality results. Available digestion techniques include Two-acid digest, Aqua Regia digest (partial digest), and Multi-acid (four-acid) digest (near-total digest). Available fusion techniques include Peroxide Fusion with ICP-OES finish and Lithium Metaborate fusion with ICP-OES finish. X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) is available for elemental and major oxide determination.

Performance Laboratories is committed to preserving the environment. Our recent expansion has elevated the state of environmental consciousness of the laboratory through the installation of a new acid scrubber system. The acid scrubber system cleans and neutralizes acid fumes produced by the analytic process before exhausting them into the atmosphere.
Performance Laboratories recently launched the Graduate Development Program in partnership with the Zimbabwe School of Mines. We sponsor the Best Metallurgical Assaying Student from the Zimbabwe School of Mines with a paid 12-month contract.
Performance Laboratories fosters a family environment through regular team-building initiatives. Most recently, we had our team building at Bushman Rock where our team participated in a variety of activities aimed at improving relationships in the workplace through collaborative efforts that focus on achieving a common goal.
